Hello Everyone:
It must be the snow. My ear worm is JINGLE BELLS today. Today is the 1st Sunday of Advent, but O COME, O COME EMMANUEL, was yesterday’s ear worm. Following is a list of important Information you MUST HAVE so that our DRESS rehearsal on Wednesday night is as effective and efficient as we can possibly have. But all of us MUST be on the same page. Rehearsal will go from 6:30 to 9:30.
- Report to the Cathedral, 50 Franklin St. downtown Buffalo, NO LATER than 6:30. Please have your music in your folder IN ORDER. I’ve given that out before. Put your personal belongings in the middle third of the Cathedral. The front and back will be used for other things.
- Don’t forget your MASK.
- NO PERFUMES, SCENTED AFTER SHAVES, HAIR SPRAYS or DEODORANTS are to be worn during this rehearsal or at the concert.
- I will conduct warm-ups in the back of Cathedral in the last 5-6 rows, and stay at least 3 feet apart.
- We will have 71 singers for this concert. Return ALL Unused TICKETS on Wednesday night. We’ll need them for walk-ins.
REHEARSAL PLAN:
- Prior to warm-ups make sure you look at the chart that Ali will provide to see where you are assigned. Notice there will be 7 sections (not necessarily Riser assignments. When Ali and I call you up by sections, make sure you know where you are going. Sitters will be last. They are Section 7.
- After we are ‘staged’, we’ll sing one song to check for balance and sight lines. Then we will minimally change the most egregious problems. I have tried to respect the personal requests of a few of you.
- Ali will then show you how the processional will be run, in reverse order. Sitters will simultaneously come in with processing singers.
- As we then process, Bob will play a processional. He will end it in e minor, the key of O Come. Your music will be in your left hand and at my cue you will put music up.
- We will run through the full concert. At the time in program where a collection is taken, we’ll we’ll do announcements. Then will will conclude the rest of the concert.
- At end we’ll process out in reverse order from processing in.
SOME FINAL THOUGHTS:
- After not having sung for 19 months, we gathered on September 15th. And we have steadily and musically gotten our singing skills back. This is simply OUTSTANDING.
- GET US AN AUDIENCE!!!!!!!!
My Best to all of you. See you Wednesday.
Marcia
