Tonight’s Rehearsal at SH is CANCELLED

Hello everyone:

I am a very liberal person by nature, spontaneous, and ready to party, but when it comes to BCAS singers, and potentially imminent bad weather, I am very conservative.  Kevin and I are in agreement. Safety is our first priority. The snow and ice will start already in the Southtowns around 4-5 pm.  After 7 pm we all should start to get something hammering us. We will then have a snow WARNING.  I want NO ONE to slip, slide, worry, be anxious, feel guilty for not coming, feel guilty because you need to come.  All of that is a recipe for a non musical rehearsal.  We’ll all be wondering what’s going on outside, etc.  So, I AM CANCELLING TONIGHT.

Now this presents a whole different set of circumstances.  First and foremost, rehearsal.  I am asking ALL members to put the time in to go over those parts that are still mysteries to you.  There should not be too many.  This is not very difficult music, as I intended knowing we did not have much prep time.  But it is beautiful and our wonderful audiences will love these pieces which herald in Christmas time for most.

Speaking of our wonderful audiences.  They will not know how wonderful this music is and you are if they are not in attendance.  We MUST, for many reasons, try to reach our goal of 800 tickets.  How?  Don’t assume folks know it is happening.  They don’t unless YOU inform them.  Let them know we’re back, almost fully.  St. Amelia’s, The Cathedral.  Great venues.  The price is right.  We need to sell ourselves.  I know you can do this.  Maybe an hour tonight can be spent calling people, or emailing, or texting.  Whatever it takes.  The other hour can be used to work with Doug’s and Linda’s rehearsal helpers.  None of us is 100% and that’s just the beginning.  Then the musicality comes in.  Our work together,.

The next ‘together’ is next TUESDAY night at SH.  This will be our penultimate rehearsal.  We can do this. I have every faith in you. Dress Rehearsal is Wednesday, November 30th at St. Amelia’s.

See you next TUESDAY.  Go get ’em folks………….pitches, rhythms, audience! – M
