Hello All:
Several of you signed up last Wednesday night to sing an ‘audition’ for our RIV concert. Those auditions will take place on Wednesday, May 8th at the Middle School. If you were not at rehearsal this past week, or were thinking about this and want to sign up now, please send me an email request to be placed on the list at mgiambrone2@verizon.net.
This coming Wednesday, we will have a VERY IMPORTANT rehearsal for our RIV concert. That rehearsal MUST be efficient and effective. Although I was mostly pleased with how much we hashed out at last Wednesday’s rehearsal, I was a bit disappointed as I listened to many voices struggling to hear parts, some singing very wrong pitches and rhythms (some we have gone over and over), and mostly finding a lot of evidence of some not spending any time to ‘study’ your scores from week to week. So many parts are in unison, or have doubled parts in another voice part, etc.. Please, please look at your music between rehearsals. I know if you do you will find many ways to help yourselves flesh out easier ways to hear pitches and to read these tricky rhythms. I know many pick up pitches and rhythms so quickly from others, but at this point, there are very few ‘others’ who can help the majority who do not. I’m counting on you.
See you Wednesday at SH High School. There are ONLY solo auditions on May 8th. I’m nervous about that after last week’s full rehearsal. Not having a choral rehearsal on the 8th, makes me sleep less well. Thanks for doing your part and helping me to sleep better.
