Monday’s with Marcia – September 16th

Hello Everyone:

We are at the HIGH SCHOOL on Wednesday night.  Below is the rehearsal plan.  It is a bit more specific than normal.  You are doing so well with learning this music.  I was very pleased with last week’s rehearsal.  And thanks for getting your absences to Beth Anne, Sharon and me in a timely manner.  Please remember to do that, although you know I HATE absences, but I know they are inevitable.

We have LOTS to do this week.  I am really loading up on working through this music as systematically as possible with the goal in mind of having you open the piece in concert and feeling VERY prepared.  There is a lot of Christmas music that is new, so I want to make sure we have those pieces in our musical souls.  Imagine what rehearsals will be like when we prepare BRAND new music for Dan Forrest.  The Board and I are working very diligently to prepare a program, budget and schedule worthy of this well-famous composer.  It is so cool to open my email and see “Hi Marcia ……………………..Thanks, Dan”.  Cool, cool, cool!!!!  So it is my goal to get you into a disciplined preparation mind-set as soon and efficiently as possible.

For those who were absent last week, notice we will be solfeging sections of Dance For Love and Solomon’s Walls.  This skill is so neat when it clicks in as we search for pitches in a particular keyality.  So do try to work through your part.  Db=Do, Eb=Re, etc.  D=Do, E=Re, F#=Mi, etc.

Shandra, who cannot sing our October concert, will be in attendance on Wednesday night, and as we finish each piece, she will scan my score in order to put each page on the website.  I will expect you to MARK YOUR SCORES as soon as you are able.  At the very least I expect the measures marked for October music by this Wednesday.  Yea!!!  I heard a rumor that John Fields will pay $50 a page for someone to mark his.  You know he is independently wealthy – or so I’ve heard. A good job for someone!  BTW:  I found my mistake in measure marking in Lullabye and I’ve corrected it.

OK.  Come ready to sing beautifully and efficiently. Enjoy the sun which should start coming out.  I love FALL!!!
