MONDAYS WITH MARCIA

Hello Everyone:

Five rehearsals, one dress, 41 days until June 11th, but who’s counting. There is a lot of work to be done. There are many, many notes, and rhythms to get in our ears. I know many of you are working on said notes and rhythms. You may want to add text to your work, so your heads are not glued to your scores. The risers will be tight and close with truly little room for folders.

Some pertinent information for all of you:

  1. I will be hearing solos on May 10 and May 17 from 9:00 – 9:30. If you’re not going to sing a solo audition, you are more than encouraged to stay. An audience is particularly important for auditioners, and it helps me with my decisions. I will publish the names of our soloists by Friday, May 19
  2. On Wednesday, May 31st, our combo will be with us at SHHS to go through all the choral stuff. This is especially important so we can work out all the musical issues before June 7th at the RIV.
  3. The entire concert will be ready for ‘ears’ at our rehearsal on May 24th, where we will check all sorts of issues and coordinate with all soloists.

I’m starting to write my last Director’s Notes. The biggest issue for me is to keep that program feature to just one page. How, after 36 years of memories and thank yous. This is becoming my hardest task so far. Be safe and well and I’ll see you Wednesday night ready to dig deep into these pieces to start to bring artistry to our work.
