Info for tomorrow – Sunday, June 2nd

Hello Everyone:

To the point:  Here is important information for tomorrow’s concert .

  1. Report time is 1:45 in the church across the street in the sanctuary, ready to go.  Please come IN concert dress which is:  Men – black trousers, black long sleeved black shirt, bright SOLID colored tie, black shoes, black socks.  Women:  Black slacks, low heeled, black, flat shoes, concert top, colored pashmina, pearl earrings.  (Thanks to the few ladies who will wear a white pashmina).  Please no doo-dahs in hair, etc..  All – NO perfumes, scented anything, please avoid alcohol.
  2. Leave all valuables in your cars, out of sight, locked up.  There is NO room for anything back stage should we have to be there if it rains.  Car keys, a folder with music in order will be all you need for concert if you have driven.  Park in the church parking lot.  NOTE:  I noticed on a portable sign last
Wednesday that the Taste of Tonawanda was happening – like last year.  Please leave close parking spaces to concert goers.
  3. We will begin to come over from church at 2:47, line up in parking lot (if it is not raining), proceed to stage in disciplined manner (you’ll be in front of audience), folders on your left side.  I’ll give you cue to put music up since we’ll all be in front of the audience.  We may have to wait for cue from Chuck and crew for lights, mikes, etc.  I’ll do my very best to keep you comfortable until the last possible moment.
  4. Line-up:  Ali will do that.  As mentioned, if it does not rain, we will line up in the parking lot just outside the stage door.  Sitters should come onto stage  WITH the top row singers – two rows together at first followed by 3, 2, and then 1.  We will only come on stage from stage R.  It’s too confusing to come on from other side.  But I’ll leave that to Ali.
  5. We will be collecting this concert’s music after our performance.  I suggest strongly that we get off risers quickly (Please get everyone off before placing music in bins), pray it is still not raining, get away from the riser exit places and then get your music into the bins accordingly.  I have an aversion to doing all that music removal on stage in front of a departing audience.  Sorry, my thing!  Keeping our discipline, performance mode ’til the very end is something I deem appropriate.
  6. The music collected will be anything in your folders EXCEPT:  Sing a Mighty Song, I Will Sing With the Spirit, and The Music of Living.
  7. Soloists:  for most of you, once your solo is finished, just step back near seated sopranos until the end of piece.  I’ll give you a bow.  If you sing in 2 parts of the song, just step back from mike if you’re not singing a solo, and then return to mike for the remainder of song.  If you have a solo in Mary Poppins, do that same thing until the end of Part I and Part II.  I’ll give all soloists a bow when I speak to audience before ‘You’ll Never Walk’.  Just wave to audience to acknowledge that.
  8. Chorus bow:  I will give you a bow at end. At end of final song, folders closed and in left hand. Remember I’ll indicate the bow –  you bow your heads to the count of 1,2,3.  I may give another.

OTHER INFO FOR THIS WEEK:

  1. Annual Meeting is Wednesday – June 5th – Sweet Home High School.  I expect you all to be there since we have a run-through with Bob Hull around 8:00 for Sunday’s performance.  I have a couple folks who have indicated that they will be unable to sing next Sunday.  I expect all others to be there and to be at Annual Meeting on Wednesday for that rehearsal.  Please get to Sean Adamchick if you feel you can volunteer your time and RUN for a Board position.  It is very rewarding and enlightening about all the doings of BCAS.  Board work is VERY eye-opening about the intricacies of this wonderful organization.
  2. Sunday, June 9th – Report to Mount Saint Mary’s in concert dress – same as RIV except – MEN will wear Black long tie; WOMEN:  pearls and NO Pashminas. We’ll try to have some sense of formal without men having to wear tuxedoes.
  3. Saturday, June 8th – Picnic at Manor House – I always find these gatherings to be so enjoyable.  A time to relax and socialize.  See Gail if you have not already done so.

OK.  I have to lector at church today.  See you all on Sunday.  I very much look forward to our time together.  There are many, many exceptional moments in this concert.  Get those last few tickets sold.  And thanks for your unstinting dedication to BCAS.
