Blink, and its September…. A pandemic, COVID September!!

Hello Everyone:

It’s KID and school time!  i had a wonderful opportunity last week to be involved in a Zoom call with Music Teachers around Erie County.  I feel so for those folks…………..trying to teach a subject that is:  1) hard to organize as large ensemble virtual gatherings, 2) varies from district to district, and 3) in many of those districts is deemed superfluous.  Good Grief!

What about the parents? Those who have to work during the day, teachers, educational employees, in schools.  They have to be vigilant about providing their own kids who’s district supports virtual learning in so many different forms,  a solid, secure daily educational experience.  What about their plight, their concerns.  I am particularly concerned about our little ones (pre-K, K, 1, 2)  who need to learn about socialization, about norms of behavior with other kids, what happens to those kids and those experiences.  Good Grief!

And what about, what about, what about………….it goes on and on.  This is truly not a time for the feint of heart.  I can’t tell you how much I miss you, how much I miss providing at least 2 1/2 hours a week of relief from the ‘grind’ that I’m sure we’d all love to be enduring again.  Singing, together, socializing with friends, performing together,………….working toward an artistic goal!!!!

We will have to endure this time off, this pause, this intermission in order to refresh our love, and passion for the arts, the performing arts, choral singing, all of those things we took for granted.  We can’t rush this.  We need to be SAFE.

My goal is to host a Zoom ‘BCAS’ gathering on Wednesday, September 16th and 30th, 7:00 PM.  I’ll send details as soon as I can figure out how to do this.  (Tom Naber, Rick Lesniak, I’m hoping for an assist).

Please, please, be careful on this Labor Day Weekend.  By careful, I mean, don’t let your guard down.  Masks, 6 feet, hand washing, etc.  Please don’t be lulled into a state of relaxation just for a few hours of forgetfulness.  You are so important to so many, especially me,…… to your families, friends, children, and neighbors.  Let’s love one another enough to care enough to abide by COVID precautions.

Take care KIDS!!
