An Important Blog

Hello Everyone:

Summertime gives us a chance to take a breath, get some personal time, and recharge for whatever life holds for us.  In our case it’s getting back to a more ‘normal’ season with four distinct concerts: secular, Christmas, sacred, and Broadway. After two and a half years of dealing with a world pandemic, I firmly believe we are ‘well rested’ enough to take this normalcy on.  I can’t wait to reveal our literature for this upcoming season. Bring on Wednesday, September 7th!!!

So, along with the excitement I feel for all our upcoming concerts, this coming year will also be a bit sad for me.  I have informed the Board that our June 11th, 2023 concert, Live at the Riv 8, A Loving Finale will be my last one with all of you.  It is my fervent wish that my retirement will allow for new and exciting musical creativity and a renewal and rebirth will come to this beloved chorus.

In the meantime, I think you’ll find that our concert literature has been selected with my retirement in mind.  And because of this I have programmed many pieces that have held a special place in my heart.

BCAS is my second family. We have been through some hard times in the last few years.  A world pandemic brought on multiple directives that have impeded our choral progress.  I sincerely see this coming year as a great opportunity to get back on track, to get singers in the fold, and to get our infrastructure back in order (I call that ‘administrivia’).  After all of the starts and stops of the past couple years,  I could not have retired until this fabulous chorus was truly back to making wonderful music.  It will be back!

Thank you for what I know will be another wonderful concert year.  I look forward to it more than you may know.  For those who have been away, please think of coming back.  For those who sang Christmas 2021, and/or June 2022, we expect you back unless you contact me.

I’ll see you all on September 7th.  Not sure yet if we’ll be at the MS or the HS in Sweet Home since any school renovation project  will probably cause changes and delays.  Stay tuned.

Much Love and much gratitude,

M
