Sunday’s Concert

Hi Everyone,

Our dress rehearsal at the Riv went very well. You should be very proud of your work for this concert and the entire year.  We sound great, and I am excited about our concert on Sunday.

Here are a few important items that will contribute to the success and professionalism of our concert.

  1. Concert length should be about 1 hr 30 min – thank you to our timers at the dress rehearsal to help with this calculation.
  2. Call time – 2 PM – Report to the church.
  3. Concert Dress – All Back, no flowers, men solid black tie.
  4. Folder are in the left hand when we enter, and in the right hand when we exit the stage.
  5. Folders should be closed when full-length solos are performed, and opened upon my cue.
  6. End of concert bow for the soloists – Due to the lack of space on the front lip of the stage, and about a 6′ drop into the pit, for safety reasons, I had a request to have everyone stay in place in the front row and raise your hand.  Or have smaller groups come to the front sides of the stage where there is more room.  We can discuss this on Sunday.
  7. Soloists – If you remove the mic from the mic stand, please move the stand to the side or you step out from behind the mic stand.  This will give the audience an unobstructed view of you while you perform.  Please remember to replace the mic to the stand and return the stand to its original location.
  8. Soloists – Please acknowledge the applause of the audience by taking a bow.
  9. Be aware of your movement on the risers during solos –  We will dim the lights slightly, but the audience will still be able to see you.
  10. After the Finale – Everyone will take a collective bow, or two.  Once I leave the stage, please wait to leave the stage if applause is still active.  If applause does not subside, I will re-enter and everyone will take a final bow.
  11. Watch me carefully for dynamics, phrasing, and tempo changes.
  12. We will collect music at the end of the concert.
  13. Invite as many people to attend the concert.

See you Sunday.

David
